Davie Community Foundation Breaks Ground on Cognition Interactive Learning Center and Makerspace in Mocksville!

It all starts with a scoop of dirt! The Davie Community Foundation (DCF) broke ground last week on COGNITION, an interactive learning center and makerspace coming to downtown Mocksville in January 2020. The mission of COGNITION is to create an interactive space for children, families, and the community to acquire knowledge through adventurous play, investigative learning, and creative growth. DavieLEADS gives Cooleemee Elementary a boost

After the 2017-18 End-of-Grade test results were announced, the county discovered it had moved up from 45th to 17th out of all 115 districts in the state for third-grade reading proficiency. Mocksville Christmas Parade This Saturday – Holiday Events Roundup!

It’s beginning to look a lot Like Christmas and the holidays just wouldn’t be complete without the annual Hometown Christmas Parade sponsored this year by the Mocksville Tourism Authority.  This year’s parade theme is “The Gifts of Christmas”. The parade will feature everything from walking groups, performers, horseback riders, single vehicles to full-blown floats, candy for the kids, and of course, Santa Claus. The parade will depart from Rich Park at 2 p.m. Saturday and will travel down Main Street, turn left on Depot Street, and end at Railroad Street where dismantling will begin. Come One, Come All; First Annual Cooleemee Christmas Parade, This Saturday, November 24th!

The Town of Cooleemee will host its first annual Christmas Parade at 4 PM on Saturday, November 24th!  The parade will begin at Cooleemee Elementary School and end at the Zachary House.  Families will gather on the grounds of the Zachary House after the parade for food, games, singing, and a reading of the Christmas Story.  Of course, Santa will be on hand for a chat and pictures with the children.
