Davie County Schools Showcase and Homecoming Parade This Saturday in Historic Downtown Mocksville

Some Davie County citizens remember when Davie County High School Homecoming Week was kicked-off with a parade through town.  The annual homecoming parade was brought back last year and will be back again this Saturday, October 16th, in conjunction with the 2010 Davie County Schools Showcase event. The Davie County Schools Showcase will feature students providing entertainment and demonstrations beginning at 9:00 AM on the square in downtown Mocksville and at Junker’s Mill Outdoor Theater. RiverPark Catfish Fry This Saturday from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM

An Annual Tradition Held on the third Saturday every October, this gathering has become an area tradition in both Davie and western Rowan Counties.  Fall at this nature park is breathtaking and when the old-time Blue Grass music is added, it becomes the ‘place to be’ for fellowship and a good time. The value of goods produced in the top 3 NC metropolitan areas growing at double the national rate!

A recent article in the Greensboro News and Record shows that growth in North Carolina manufacturing is playing a key role in US economic recovery. North Carolina is home to 3 of the top 20 metropolitan areas in the country in terms of output growth.  During the second quarter of 2010, the value of good produced nationally grew by only 0.6% while the value of goods produced in the top 3 North Carolina metropolitan areas grew at about double the national rate.  Details here. The Packaging Group Opens in Mocksville Bringing Dozens of New Jobs

Lee Jeans Consolidation Means More Jobs for Davie County

VF Corporation, a global apparel leader headquartered in Greensboro, NC selected Davie County as the single point of distribution for Lee Jeans to all US markets, increasing the volume of Lee Jeans shipped out of the Mocksville facility.   This brought an additional 50 jobs to Davie County with the possibility of more jobs by year end.  Currently there are 430 associates at the Lee Jeans distribution facility in Mocksville.  As a result of this consolidation, every pair of Lee Jeans, from Maine to Florida, New York to Alaska is now shipped out of Mocksville to retailers throughout North America. “Davie […]

19th Annual Textile Heritage Festival ~ Saturday, September 25th, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM

Admission is Free.  Come celebrate Cooleemee’s rich history  at the 19th Annual Textile Heritage Festival at the Zachary House, 131 Church Street, Cooleemee.
