Sugar Valley Airport hosts aerospace education event in Davie County

Sugar Valley Airport ~ Serving the Community Over twenty cadets and adult officers from Civil Air Patrol Squadrons in Winston-Salem, Statesville, Boone and South Charlotte camped out at Sugar Valley Airport Friday night, September 14th.  The purpose of the visit was to explore one of the pillars of CAP work: aerospace education.  As an auxiliary of the United States Air Force, the Civil Air Patrol is uniquely qualified to inspire our youth with aerospace education. Hospital Construction Ahead of Schedule for Wake Forest Baptist Health – West Campus in Davie County

The 88-acre site in the town of Bermuda Run on NC Highway 801 at Interstate 40 has been cleared with the exception of the natural wetlands, which are being protected. Grading of the site for the outpatient services building also has been completed and workers began pouring the foundation of the 101,000 square foot building, erecting concrete walls below grade. $35 Million Avgol Investment Creates 40 New Manufacturing Jobs in Davie County

A textile manufacturing revolution is underway Avgol Nonwovens celebrated the opening of a 4th production line at their flagship manufacturing plant in Mocksville last week.  This $35 million investment by Avgol has created more than 40 new manufacturing jobs in Davie County bringing the total workforce at the plant to 180 employees. Professional Summer Stock Theatre Coming to Davie County!

Davie County and the Piedmont Triad is getting its first professional summer stock theatre company in decades.  Broadway’s Best Theatre Company of NC has announced plans to open a 250 seat theatre in the former ACE Hardware facility located at the intersection of Farmington Road and I-40 in Davie County.  The company plans to begin performances next year for the summer of 2013. CPP Global will host an open job fair from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 in Mocksville.  CPP Global is located at 111 CPP Global Drive (formerly Kaydon drive) in Mocksville. CPP Global, a manufacturer of packaging products for the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries, is opening a new manufacturing plant in Mocksville.  They are investing $5.3 million and creating 140 new manufacturing jobs. Breathing New Life into the Historic 600,000 square-foot Mill in Cooleemee

Hard work, big dreams and innovative thinking have begun to breathe new life into the 600,000 square-foot cotton mill which has been standing idle in Cooleemee since 1969.  The Cooleemee mill was once the most powerful economic engine in Davie County, North Carolina.  After opening in 1901, the mill employed almost 2,000 people at its peak until it was closed in 1969.
