Davie County EDC Provides Development Update to NC Department of Commerce

The Davie County Economic Development Commission met with the North Carolina Department of Commerce at their offices in Raleigh in late November.  The purpose of the meeting was to update the Department of Commerce on development activities in Davie County and to provide details on buildings and sites available for development in the county. $7.5 Million Gift Assures Continued Academic Leadership and Workforce Preparedness for Davidson and Davie Counties

DCCC, the Community College of Davidson and Davie Counties, received a $7.5 million gift from the late Christine Harris of Lexington.   The donation is by far the largest gift to the college and is one of the largest gifts in North Carolina community college history, according to Jenny Varner, executive director of the DCCC Foundation. Manufacturing Jobs Coming to Mocksville

National Flooring Distributors of Louisville, Kentucky will open a 31,500 square foot manufacturing operation on Industrial Boulevard in Mocksville. Production at the plant will begin ramping up before 2011 year end and dozens of new jobs will be created before the plant reaches production capacity of 20,000 square feet per 8 hour shift. Employment growth at the plant should continue through at least 2012. DCCC Awarded $2.6 Million ~ Deliver High Skilled Training for High Wage Jobs!

Marketing Davie County & Our Region to the World! Piedmont Triad Partnership

The Piedmont Triad Partnership and the 13 local Economic Development organizations in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina have developed a new management structure for the regional marketing program. Davie County Economic Development Commission Receives Land Donation from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company

The Davie County Economic Development Commission (EDC) today announced that R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company has donated approximately 360 acres of land in Davie County to the EDC. The land has a property tax value of $3.5 million. “R.J. Reynolds’ gift of this prime industrial site greatly enhances the Commission’s economic development opportunities and consequent job creation,” said Terry Bralley, president of the EDC. “This gift is especially important, given the present economic climate.
