Christmas is quickly approaching, and the 2018 Davie County Commemorative Christmas ornament would make a perfect addition to your tree as well as become a treasured gift for your Davie County family and friends. This year’s ornament returns to the original glass ball design and features the Kurfees Pure Oil Company, now Sadie’s Shoppe, which is located at 185 N. Salisbury St. This Davie County landmark has served in many capacities since Dr. R.P. Anderson built it as a service station, one of the oldest in Mocksville, in 1920. While the iffy weather kept the crowds just a little smaller than usual for the Mocksville Christmas Parade, the event was a blast for everyone who came out to join the fun. It’s beginning to look a lot Like Christmas and the holidays just wouldn’t be complete without the annual Hometown Christmas Parade sponsored this year by the Mocksville Tourism Authority. This year’s parade theme is “The Gifts of Christmas”. The parade will feature everything from walking groups, performers, horseback riders, single vehicles to full-blown floats, candy for the kids, and of course, Santa Claus. The Town of Cooleemee will host its first annual Christmas Parade at 4 PM on Saturday, November 24th! The parade will begin at Cooleemee Elementary School and end at the Zachary House. Families will gather on the grounds of the Zachary House after the parade for food, games, singing, and a reading of the Christmas Story. Of course, Santa will be on hand for a chat and pictures with the children. To enter the parade, simply show up at the Cooleemee Elementary School prior to 4 PM. No pre-registrations is necessary. The town of Mocksville raced into the Christmas season on November 16th with the 7th Annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race as 23 race teams made the mad dash down Main Street. 2018 Mocksville Bed Races Thank you to Ed Simmons for the awesome photos! The race saw another good turnout this year with the streets full of families, fun and holiday spirit. Historic Downtown Mocksville will race into the Christmas season this Friday night, November 16th as 25 whacky, whimsical, and outrageous teams from local businesses, non-profits, and WXII-12 News take part in the 7th annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race. The festivities will begin with the lighting of the downtown businesses at dusk.
