“How to get Started in Beekeeping” ~ Class starts January 12th

Casting Call ~ Auditions this Saturday!

The Davie County Arts Council and the Brock Players will host auditions for “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” at 10:00 AM this Saturday, January 5th, 2013. This Tony Award winning musical comedy centers on a fictional spelling bee set in a geographically ambiguous Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky adolescents compete in the bee, run by three equally-quirky grown-ups. Whether photography is your passion, your hobby, or just an occasional pastime, you are invited to participate in the Davie County Arts Council photo contest, celebrating the beauty and unique character of Davie County. A “Tribute Tree” to honor and/or remember those who serve or have served to protect our freedom is located beside the Mocksville Police Department and will be on display throughout the 2012  holiday season. The Goal is to fill the Entire Tree with Flags! For each $1 contribution, a United States flag will be placed on the tree to represent a designated service person.  The contributions will be presented to the Davie County Veteran’s Administration for local veteran services. Davie County Weekend Events ~ Hay Rides, the Grinch, Horse and Buggy Rides and More

The 2012 Christmas holiday season is in full swing in Davie County with lots of events and things to do for the entire family. While not exactly in Davie County, many of us enjoy time with family and friends each year at the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons.  Each year more than 250,000 people attend the 4 mile display with more than 1,000,000 lights.  For details see Tanglewood Park. Santa, the Grinch, Christmas stories, book signing, Christmas parade, hay rides, pedi-cab rides and more.

“Hometown Christmas” celebrations continue throughout the holiday season. Free Event ~ Hay rides from 6:30 to 8 PM on Friday, December 7.  Historic downtown Mocksville will host hay rides from Station on Main Street located at 185 North Main Street in Mocksville. Free Event ~ Christmas Bedtime Stories 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00 PM on Friday, December 7 at The Book Rack, Historic Mocksville’s Community Bookseller located at   114 North Main Street in Mocksville.  Each session lasts only about 10 minutes and parents are required to stay on site during the story times.  Christmas Bedtime Stories will be presented again on different days […]
