Daniel Boone Family Festival May 4th Will Dish up Food, Fun, Music and a Heapin’ Helpin’ of History

Free Community Event! 10 AM to 9 PM On May 4, Historic Davie will host the Daniel Boone Family Festival in Historic Downtown Mocksville.  Featuring craftsmen, merchants, educational tours, historic re-enactors, food vendors, and live music, there’s something for everyone at the all-day event which kicks off at 10 AM. Creating Jobs in Davie County Once Again ~ Boyles Furniture and Rugs Grand Re-Opening

Boyles Furniture & Rugs is creating jobs in Davie County North Carolina once again.   A Grand Re-Opening of the longtime Boyles location at 182 Farmington Rd. in Mocksville, NC, centrally located in North Carolina directly off of Interstate 40, is scheduled for May 23. Davie County High School Lacrosse Team Port-A-Pit Fundraiser

Davie County High School has formed a club level lacrosse team with plans for a regular school team next year.  The team is currently selling tickets to a port-a-pit chicken plate which will be prepared and served at the Daniel Boone Family Festival on Saturday, May 4, 2013 in historic downtown Mocksville. Plates will include chicken, baked beans, BBQ slaw, a roll and dessert for $8.50.  Plates will be available during the festival for pickup from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm at the port-a-pit tent located at the corner of Depot and Salisbury Streets .  Orders of 10 or more […]

Wake Forest Baptist Health—West Campus Opens in August

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center will open the first of two buildings on its West Campus in August, bringing the world-class services of one of the nation’s premier academic medical centers to Davie County. The four-story, 60,000 square foot building—visible from Interstate 40 at exit 180 in the Town of Bermuda Run —will house physician offices, physical therapy, cardiac rehabilitation, and a pharmacy. Davie County in the Spotlight – Ashley Furniture Breaks Ground on 1,040,000 SF Addition

On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, Ashley Furniture broke ground in Davie County, NC on what will eventually be the largest furniture manufacturing and distribution center in the world.  Part of a 5 year, $500 million investment strategy, the Davie County site sits on 668 acres in Advance, NC that will home to 3.8 million square feet of manufacturing and distribution space when completed. Great bargains on new and gently used books can be found at the Friends of Davie County Public Library book sale this weekend.  Held every spring and fall, the book sales are the volunteer organization’s main fundraiser. Organ Recital & Shop Presentation at Historic Textile Mill in Cooleemee

On Saturday, April 16th at the mill in Cooleemee, Dr. Timothy Olsen, Kenan Professor of Organ, U of NC School of the Arts will performing on the new LEWTAK handmade pipe organ destined for the Osterhab Kirke (Church) in Denmark.  The public is invited. The organ was designed, engineered and built by hand over the last 18 months, with construction over the last 12 months by Tom Lewtak occurring inside the historic textile mill in Cooleemee.  The recital is a free community event.
