Ashley Furniture to Create 550 Jobs in Davie County, North Carolina

Governor Bev Perdue announced today that Ashley Furniture, a manufacturer and distributor of home furnishings, will locate a new manufacturing and distribution facility in Davie County.  Ashley Furniture expects to create 550 new jobs over the next five years and invest $80 million in land, buildings, machinery and equipment. A public forum to discuss the school facilities needs of Davie County Schools will be held on April 19, 2012 from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Brock Auditorium in Mocksville. The Brock Auditorium is located at 622 North Main Street in Mocksville. The Little Diversified Architectural Firm will provide a short summary of their assessment, some ideas they have developed for addressing the needs at Davie County High School, and their demographer will provide a summary of the demographic forecast of Davie County for the next 10 years. Great bargains on new and gently used books can be found at the Friends of Davie County Public Library book sale this weekend.  Held every spring and fall, the book sales are the volunteer organization’s main fundraiser. Mayor F.W. Slate has proclaimed March 31, 2012 as “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day”.  The Town of Mocksville invites the County of Davie, Town of Bermuda Run and Town of Cooleemee to join together  to pay tribute to the men and women who served our country during the Vietnam War.
