Davie County Weekend Events ~ Hay Rides, the Grinch, Horse and Buggy Rides and More

The 2012 Christmas holiday season is in full swing in Davie County with lots of events and things to do for the entire family. While not exactly in Davie County, many of us enjoy time with family and friends each year at the Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons.  Each year more than 250,000 people attend the 4 mile display with more than 1,000,000 lights.  For details see Tanglewood Park. Welcome Back ~ Boyles Furniture & Rugs Re-Opens in Mocksville

Just in time for Christmas, the Boyles Furniture and Rugs retail store in Mocksville at the intersection of Interstate 40 and Farmington Road is re-opening! Santa, the Grinch, Christmas stories, book signing, Christmas parade, hay rides, pedi-cab rides and more.

“Hometown Christmas” celebrations continue throughout the holiday season. Free Event ~ Hay rides from 6:30 to 8 PM on Friday, December 7.  Historic downtown Mocksville will host hay rides from Station on Main Street located at 185 North Main Street in Mocksville. Free Event ~ Christmas Bedtime Stories 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00 PM on Friday, December 7 at The Book Rack, Historic Mocksville’s Community Bookseller located at   114 North Main Street in Mocksville.  Each session lasts only about 10 minutes and parents are required to stay on site during the story times.  Christmas Bedtime Stories will be presented again on different days […]

Help us “Flag” the Tree of Honor

A “Tribute Tree” to honor and/or remember those who serve or have served to protect our freedom is located beside the Mocksville Police Department and will be on display throughout the 2012  holiday season. The Goal is to fill the Entire Tree with Flags! For each $1 contribution, a United States flag will be placed on the tree to represent a designated service person.  The contributions will be presented to the Davie County Veteran’s Administration for local veteran services. This year the historical Davie County Christmas ornament has a new look!  In keeping with this year’s Hometown Christmas theme “Celebration of Trees”, the 22nd historical ornament is a pewter ornament which captures the significance of the oak trees that define the square in Historic Downtown Mocksville as well as our community way of life.
