Community Chicken Stew This Saturday in Cooleemee

On Saturday, November 3, the Cooleemee Recreation Department will host a Chicken Stew at the Zachary House in Cooleemee.  Walter Ferrell just keeps on cooking – perhaps he needs to open a local restaurant! Steaming hot, the fall Chicken Stew is becoming an annual event.  Sponsored by the Cooleemee Recreation Department, there will be plenty of crackers, all you can eat stew and a drink for $5.  Stew will be served beginning at 4:30 PM.  Hot dogs will also be sold. Hometown Christmas Parade The 2012 Davie County Hometown Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday, November 17th at 3 PM in historic downtown Mocksville.  The parade theme for 2012 is a “Celebration of Trees.” – a theme that ties in well with traditional Christmas trees while recognizing the impact of the four majestic oaks on the historic Mocksville town square. Hospital Construction Fully Underway in Davie County ~ Construction Jobs Today, Health Care Jobs Tomorrow

The future home of Wake Forest Baptist Health – West Campus, the 88-acre site in the town of Bermuda Run on NC Highway 801 at Interstate 40, has been cleared with the exception of the natural wetlands, which are being protected. There may be 100-150 workers when construction activity is at its peak and Wake Forest Baptist anticipates that 200 permanent health care and related jobs will be created when phase one is open. Four Oaks Festival and Hometown Quilts of Davie October 12th-13th

The annual Four Oaks Festival, a free community event will be held in historic downtown Mocksville on Saturday, October 13th, 2012 from 10 am to 6 pm. This all day street festival will include a variety of vendors, crafts, holiday gifts, activities for children and live music throughout the day. Musical Farewell to a Friend, Bill Foster, this Saturday

Bill Foster, a resident of Mocksville, a Mocksville board member, and the owner of Foster Drugs, a pharmacy located in Mocksville, died at his home on Tuesday morning. A musical farewell celebrating the life of Bill Foster will be conducted at 4:00 pm Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Brock Performing Arts Center. The family has requested casual attire only please. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered for the Bill Foster Scholarship Fund.
