Carnegie Medal for Heroism To Be Awarded in Public Ceremony to Elijah Wittum at Riverpark, Cooleemee on Tuesday, August 17th at 6:00 PM

Elijah Jarred Wittum will be presented with the Carnegie Medal for Heroism at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, August 17th.  The public is encouraged to attend. The Carnegie Hero Medal, established in 1904 by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, recognizes selfless acts of heroism.  The awards are given each year to individuals who place themselves in significant danger to save the life of a fellow human being. Time Spent in Davie County on Saturday Will Be Time Well Spent

Several events are going on this Saturday in Davie County and there is something for everyone! Saturday from 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM ~ 2nd Annual Tour of Davie Come take a beautiful bike tour of Davie County. There are 20, 40, and 70 mile routes. Update: 1st Day Results for 2010 US Amateur Qualifying at Oak Valley Golf Club

Results are in for the 1st day of the 2010 US Amateur Regional Qualifying Tournament at Oak Valley Golf Club in Advance, NC.  Matthew Younts of Stokesdale, NC fired a six-under par 66 to hold a two stroke lead after the first round. Oak Valley Golf Club in Advance ~ “The Place Where Legends Are Made” Hosts US Amateur Qualifying Round on Monday and Tuesday, July 26th and 27th!

A legend may be born today in Davie County For the 5th consecutive year Oak Valley Golf Club in Advance is home to the sectional qualifying round for next month’s US Amateur Golf Tournament.  Three players from the qualifying rounds at Oak Valley this week will go on to play in the 2010 US Amateur Championship Tournament.
