Wake Forst University Baptist Medical Center is Recognized as One of America’s Premier Hospitals
Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center is ranked in eight categories in U.S.News & World Report’s 2010-11 Best Hospitals, up from five categories in last year’s rankings. It’s a huge accomplishment!
The Best of the Best!
Requirements for inclusion in even one area of specialty are so stiff that 97% of all hospitals in the nation are excluded from the rankings in even one category. Out of 4,852 medical centers surveyed, only 152 medical centers in the nation ranked in the top 50 in ANY of the 16 areas ranked in the study.
WFUBMC ranked with the best in eight categories: Cancer; Ear, Nose and Throat; Gynecology; Heart & Heart Surgery; Kidney Disorders; Neurology and Neurosurgery; Pulmonology; and Urology.
System Wide Team Effort!
It takes tremendous teamwork and collective effort to achieve inclusion in these rankings. Inclusion in the rankings for 8 areas of specialty recognizes the success of the entire team at WFUBMC.
This recognition reflects advanced treatments and technologies, highly competent and compassionate patient care as well as an outstanding level of patient services, available technology and accreditations.
“This is a great honor to be ranked among the best hospitals in the nation, but it is also indicative of the tremendous accomplishments of our faculty and staff,” said John D. McConnell, M.D., chief executive officer of Wake Forest Baptist. “The rankings are a reflection of the growing reputation of our faculty physicians among their peers nationwide, of our advanced treatments and technologies, and of the highly competent and compassionate patient care to which all of our employees are dedicated.”
