Saturday from 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM ~ 2nd Annual Tour of Davie
Come take a beautiful bike tour of Davie County. There are 20, 40, and 70 mile routes. Rest stops will be located approximately 15 miles apart along the course. The club and anyone interested in participating will meet at the Masonic Picnic Grounds behind the Brock Center a few minutes before 7:00 AM. Registration is $35 and proceeds benefit the Hospice & Palliative Care Center. Saturday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM ~ Daniel and Rebecca Boone, Their Lives and Times
The Yadkin Valley Historical Association invites you to attend the 5th Yadkin Valley History Fair and Genealogical Conference at the First United Methodist Church Family Life Center at 310 North Main Street, Mocksville, NC 27028.
The theme this year is “Daniel and Rebecca Bryan Boone, Their Lives and Times.” the keynote speaker will be Randell Jones, author of “In the Footsteps of Daniel Boone” and “On the Trail of Daniel Boone”. This speaker is made possible by a grant from the North Carolina Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
Bryan Family Speaker: David R. Bryan, Bryan Family Researcher and Historian, and the Co-Author of Morgan Bryan (1671-1763) A Danish Born “Irish Immigrant” and Some of His Antecedents and Descendants and Seven Sons and Two Daughters of Morgan Bryan (1671-1763) Irish Immigrant and Some of Their Descendants.
Special presentation by Everett G. Marshall, author of “Rich Man: Daniel Boone” will present his research on J. Hampton Rich and the Daniel Boone Highway Improvement Association.
Special Presentation: Professor Mark Hager from Lenoir-Rhyne College, Hickory, NC, will present the latest research on Historic Joppa Cemetery, where the parents of Daniel Boone are buried, followed by a tour of the cemetery at 3:00 pm.
