The best places to live in America have enough “community” in the community to put on a well attended parade.
Christmas Parades commemorate the past through the traditions of Christmas; celebrate the present by bringing together the best in civic groups, churches, businesses, schools, community leaders and public servants; and present a vision of hope to the next generation for a strong and prosperous future.
To that end, we present you with the following:
The Parade, Good Will on Display
Classic cars, fire engines, and antique tractors,
School kids, motorcycles and horse drawn wagons;
Kids catching candy… filled with delight,
Everyone waving… we’re all neighbors today.
Boy scouts and girl scouts, unicycles and dancers,
Marching bands, floats and crowds on the sidewalk;
Parents with cameras watching for loved ones,
as much a part of the scene as those waving from floats.
Churches and farmers, hunters and soldiers,
Democrats, Republicans, the Red Cross and 4H;
These all have I seen in the course of this parade,
Prompting my thanks for the good will on display.

“Good will on display”- what a wonderful and apt description of small town parades. One of the parades I usually attend is in a county with the highest unemployment rate in our state, yet for a couple of hours people can forget their troubles and feel the joy of the season with their neighbors and friends. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
