“Hometown Christmas” celebrations continue throughout the holiday season.
Free Event ~ Hay rides from 6:30 to 8 PM on Friday, December 7. Historic downtown Mocksville will host hay rides from Station on Main Street located at 185 North Main Street in Mocksville.
Free Event ~ Christmas Bedtime Stories 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00 PM on Friday, December 7 at The Book Rack, Historic Mocksville’s Community Bookseller located at 114 North Main Street in Mocksville. Each session lasts only about 10 minutes and parents are required to stay on site during the story times. Christmas Bedtime Stories will be presented again on different days of the week between now and Christmas. Visit the Book Rack of Mocksville for a complete schedule.
Pedi-Cab Rides ~ On Friday, December 7 from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Skinny Wheels Bike Shop will be providing Pedi-cab rides through town. Rides are $3 per person or $5 for 2 riders. Rides will begin and end at Skinny Wheels Bike Shop located at 119 North Salisbury Street in Mocksville.
Free Event ~ Author book signing 6:30 PM on Friday, December 7. The Book Rack of Mocksville is proud to present a reading and book signing Friday, December 7th at 7pm by 16 year old author, Skylhur Tranqille as she explores the consequences of science in her debut novel.
Author Skylhur Tranqille has always been a prolific reader. She holds the record for most books read at her middle school. Now she taps that experience in the first of a planned series of books which explore a mythical world where people are separated between those who can fly, and those who do not have wings. The book is entitled “Landed Wings” and is written from the first person perspective of five main characters.
The series will capture the betrayal, revenge, love and heartache the series heroine, Ashylhnn, experiences while exploring the role science plays in the development of society. Skylhur is currently working on a Prequel to Landed Wings along with the second book in the series titled, “Broken Wings”. Skylhur lives in Advance, NC with her brother and parents.
Free Event ~ Advance Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 8 at 10:00 am. No pre-registration is required, just be at Shady Grove Elementary School on Cornatzer Road before 9:00 AM. Parade begins at 10:00 am starting at the school and following Cornatzer Road, turning right onto Highway 801 and left onto Peeples Creek Road.
Store-front windows have been decorated for the holidays, the majestic oaks on the square have been strung with lights and festive holiday lighting brightens the night throughout historic downtown Mocksville. Celebrations and events continue to bring people together across Davie County, contributing to the strength and vitality of our communities.
