All Veterans Invited! Veterans Coffee Thursday, June 2, in Mocksville

A free Veterans’ Coffee will be held in Mocksville this Thursday, June 2nd from 8:30‐10:30 am at Sagebrush Steakhouse, 1562 Yadkinville Road.  This is a monthly event scheduled for the first Thursday of each month.  Veterans of all ages have the opportunity to meet, share stories, and enjoy informal presentations by community organizations in Davie County. Similar events are being held across the country to provide Veterans a place to gather and for local health and human service organizations to show their support by offering a casual environment where veterans can meet and learn about services available to them. Free Concert this Saturday! – Special Occasion Band

The Town of Bermuda Run will be alive with the sounds of beach music as Special Occasion Band (SOB) kicks off the Sounds on the Square concert series this Saturday night, May 28th, from 7 pm-10 pm at the gazebo near Town Hall. This is the first of two free concerts co-sponsored by the Town of Bermuda Run and the Davie County Arts Council. Golden Leaf Helps Davie County Land 1,400 Manufacturing, Textile Jobs

Golden LEAF awards $3.5 million in grants to bring projects to life In 2011, Davie County’s unemployment rate reached 13% with minimal job prospects on the horizon. Today, the county boasts a 4.3% unemployment rate and booming businesses, according to Terry Bralley, President of the Davie County Economic Development Corporation. Much of that dip in the jobless rate results from job growth in manufacturing and textiles. The county has gained approximately 1,400 new jobs in those sectors in the last five years, thanks in part to two grants totaling $3.5 million from the Golden LEAF Foundation. State of Emergency Declared: 8-12 inches of snow expected Friday

As of 1 p.m., on January 21, 2016 Davie County has declared a State of Emergency.  Please be advised of the following: Per the National Weather Service, northeast areas of Davie County are anticipated to receive 8-12 inches of snow on Friday.  In the southern parts of the county, we are anticipated to receive 4-6 inches of snow, followed by sleet and freezing rain—this is expected to begin overnight (early Friday morning).  Sustained winds are expected to be 10-12 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.
