Davie County seniors are invited to “meet” with Davie County Commissioners and town representatives from Bermuda Run, Cooleemee, and Mocksville on Thursday, January  21st, at 1:00 p.m. Anyone over the age of 55 is invited to join in via Zoom, phone (toll-free number), or parking lot radio. This will be a time to ask all of your questions plus voice suggestions, concerns, or praises. There is no Time Like the Present to Double Your Donation

Tony and Vi Golding are “golden” for Davie County! The couple has generously agreed to match up to $125,000 in gifts to IGNITE DAVIE made by December 31, 2020; potentially adding a combined total of $250,000 to the IGNITE DAVIE endowment!  IGNITE DAVIE is a College Promise Program that invests in the students of Davie County. Davie County Cooperative Extension Office Sponsors Community Food Drive

No one should go hungry. This year’s challenges have made the need for food donations greater than ever.  N.C. Cooperative Extension, Davie County Center, is sponsoring a food drive through December 11th to benefit local food pantries.   Drop Off Donations by December 11, 2020 There will be a collection box outside the front door of the extension office, located at 180 South Main Street in downtown Mocksville, beside the courthouse, for no-contact drop-offs. David Bone Named Davie County Manager

The Davie County Board of Commissioners met on November 18, 2020, and named David Bone as the new county manager. Bone currently serves as county manager in Martin County, NC (population of 22,671), a position he has held since 2011.  Bone has served a total of 18 years as a local government manager, having also served as the town manager in Wendell, Elizabethtown, and Chadbourn, NC. Davie County in the Red Zone for Community Spread

North Carolina Introduces COVID-19 County Alert System:  Governor Cooper and Dr. Mandy Cohen, secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NC DHHS) have announced a new COVID-19 County Alert System to pinpoint counties with the highest levels of viral spread and to offer specific recommendations to bring numbers down. This system will provide information about how each county is faring and will help local leaders make decisions about actions to slow the virus’s spread. POSTPONED: Out of an abundance of caution and due to Davie County being a red tier community, our 2020 Outdoor Health Fair is postponed until further notice. While we understand that this is unfortunate news, the health of our team, members, and community is of utmost importance. Davie County Public Library Resumes Regular Business Hours

Good news book lovers, the Davie County Public Library has resumed normal business hours at both the Mocksville and Cooleemee locations!  The Mocksville branch is open: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 8:30 p.m. Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Sunday, 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Mockville branch is located at 371 N. From October 24th-29th, there are time slots for you to carve or paint a pumpkin at the Davie County Community Park.
