19th Annual Limited Edition Davie County Christmas Ornament Premiering This Weekend

In what has become a treasured Davie County tradition, the 2009 Davie County Christmas Ornament will be premiered this weekend during the annual open house held by the local shops in historic downtown Mocksville from 1 to 5 PM on Sunday, November 22rd. Local artist Janet Dean has captured a scene from a bygone era for the 2009 ornament, a painting of a bustling, historic “Martin Brothers” building. “Smart Development” – Interstate Business Park

Many of you have noticed the construction along Interstate Drive on US Highway 601 just across from the Wal-Mart shopping center in Mocksville, NC. Construction has started on a facility for Sherwin Williams, scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2010.  Construction will begin soon for an outpatient dialysis center for Wake Forest University Health Sciences.  The dialysis center is also scheduled to open in the spring of 2010. Regional Transportation Network Expands in Davie County

Beginning on December 7th, the Piedmont Authority for Regional Transportation (PART) will begin operating a daily express bus service between Mocksville and Winston Salem.    A temporary “Park and Ride” lot will be utilized in the Mocksville Wal-Mart parking lot until construction of the permanent facility is completed.  Initially the service will include stops at both major hospitals in Winston-Salem and a stop in downtown Winston Salem.   A more detailed schedule will be published by PART in mid-November and will be available on the PART web site at www.partnc.org.   Perhaps the best way to get the schedule information as soon […]

Health Care Investment Trend Continues in Mocksville!

Autumn Care is investing in a new 57,000 square foot, 108 bed state of the art skilled-nursing home in Mocksville.  The $9.7 investment will be used to replace the current Autumn Care facility located on Howard Street in Mocksville.  The current facility was built in several phases beginning in the 1960’s and continuing through the early 1990’s. Farmington Fall Expo

The Farmington Fall Expo, October 24th at the Farmington Community Center is a benefit for the Farmington Playground Project.  The expo is a showcase of local businesses and vendors providing a variety of goods and services.  Even on this rainy day, turnout was great.   Guests enjoyed shopping, food, music, hayrides, crafts, and games for children provided by the Girl Scouts. The day also included musical performances by Farmington Bluegrass, Escaping Inertia (Christian Rock), and In Flight Gymnasium. Davie County Chamber of Commerce 40th Annual Awards Banquet!

Nearly 200 Davie County business and civic leaders attended the Davie County Chamber of Commerce 40th Annual Awards Banquet for an evening of delicious food, lively entertainment and engaging company at the beautiful Bermuda Run Country Club on Friday, October 15th. The dance floor was full to capacity for much of the evening as “The Black and Blue Band” belted out popular blues, rock, and dance classics.  The band displayed an amazing range of vocal and instrumental talent as they played dozens of requests from the audience.
