Intersection and Crosswalk Improvements Coming to Downtown Mocksville

By Jeanna Baxter White The Town of Mocksville will be getting a new, improved crosswalk at the main intersection of Hwy 158 (Main Street) and Depot Street following the Board of Transportation’s funding approval of a pedestrian safety improvement plan presented by the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) on December 5th. According to the DOT’s proposal, the new crosswalk will include flashing crossing lights, a pavement stamp with reflective markings to enhance the outline of the crosswalk for motorists, and curb extensions (bumpouts) to shorten the distance pedestrians must walk to cross the street. Skyline National Bank Grand Opening in Mocksville this Thursday, December 12th!

By Jeanna Baxter White Skyline National Bank has leased the former BB&T bank building in downtown Mocksville and will open its newest branch during the first week of December with a grand opening scheduled for December 12th. Grand opening festivities will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., refreshments, giveaways, and account specials with CD promotional rates and safe deposit box fee waivers.  The first fifty people to register for a door prize will also receive a free Christmas wreath. Davie County – 17th Strongest Economy in the State!

Bed Races This Friday in Mocksville ~ Wacky, Whimsical, and Outrageously Fun!

Historic Downtown Mocksville will race into the Christmas season this Friday night, November 22nd (rain date November 23rd) as wacky, whimsical, and outrageous teams from local businesses, non-profits, and the community take part in the 7th annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race. The festivities will begin with the lighting of the downtown businesses at dusk followed by the parade of beds at 6 p.m. and the bed races at 6:30. Davie Connect, Davie Chamber and the Community College Join Forces at Davie County Job Fair

By Jeanna Baxter White Davie CONNECT, DCCC, the Community College of Davidson and Davie Counties and the Davie County Chamber of Commerce joined forces on Wednesday, October 16th at the Davie Campus in Mocksville for a co-sponsored job fair. The event brought together 38 employers representing a wide range of professions and industries. Career options at the job fair included positions in the areas of healthcare, advanced manufacturing, business, IT, education and more.  The job fair was moved to the library and surrounding area which provided more space to accommodate a larger number of employers.
