Davie County’s unprecedented 23% job growth over the past five years coupled with a low unemployment rate of 3.9% has left local employers in a quandary — how to find enough qualified workers. Seeking to create a solution to the problem, the Davie County Economic Development Commission has kicked-off DavieCONNECT, an initiative designed to connect businesses to resources and kids to careers and to provide innovative workforce solutions for Davie County. The town of Mocksville raced into the Christmas season on November 16th with the 7th Annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race as 23 race teams made the mad dash down Main Street. 2018 Mocksville Bed Races Thank you to Ed Simmons for the awesome photos! Bed Races This Friday in Mocksville ~ Whacky, Whimsical, and Outrageously Fun!

Historic Downtown Mocksville will race into the Christmas season this Friday night, November 16th as 25 whacky, whimsical, and outrageous teams from local businesses, non-profits,  and WXII-12 News take part in the 7th annual “Twas the Night Before” Bed Race. The festivities will begin with the lighting of the downtown businesses at dusk. It’s Not Too Late to Enter This Friday Night’s ‘Twas the Night Before’ Bed Race!

The beds will roll this Friday night, November 16th at 6 p.m., but it’s not too late to join in the fun! Applications will be accepted for the hilarious, fun, yet competitive bed races until tomorrow night’s mandatory team captain’s meeting at 6 p.m. at Town Hall. DavieLEADS – Building Momentum on Encouraging First Year Results

Davie County Schools is on a roll–an honor roll. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has released its statewide End-of-Grade (EOG) test data for 2017-18, and Davie County has moved from 45th to 17th out of 115 districts in 3rd-grade reading proficiency.  Based on last year’s test results, Cooleemee Elementary is now in the top 4 percent of North Carolina elementary schools for academic growth, with a ranking of 47th out of 1,218 schools statewide. Comfort Bilt Growing in Mocksville, Creating New Jobs!

  The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority has awarded the Town of Mocksville a $212,000 grant to support the renovation of a 194,000-square-foot building that is occupied by Comfort Bilt® Windows and Doors, a subsidiary of Larson Manufacturing, which manufactures storm doors and windows. The company plans to invest over $500,000 to expand production at the facility, creating as many as 50 new jobs over the next two years. The plant will begin producing an additional line of storm doors with retractable screens next year. Students Explore Career Options as Davie County Celebrates Manufacturing Day 2018

To celebrate Manufacturing Day 2018, several local businesses and Davie County manufacturers provided a unique opportunity for all eighth-grade students in Davie County. On October 5th, students from Ellis, North Davie, and South Davie Middle Schools each toured two different locations including DEX Heavy Duty Parts, Gildan,  Ingersoll Rand, Pro Refrigeration, DCCC – Davie Campus, and WFBH-Davie Medical Center – Bermuda Run.
