The sold-out event began with a welcome reception of networking and mingling followed by a delicious dinner in the loft. Lambert-Graham Funeral Home Celebrates Grand Opening in Mocksville

By Jeanna Baxter White Lambert-Graham Funeral Home celebrated its grand opening on Tuesday, December 10th, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Davie County Chamber of Commerce. Despite the nasty weather, more than 150 area residents turned out to congratulate new owners, Carl and Kim Lambert, and to tour the newly renovated and redecorated facility. Kindergarten Readiness Showing Promising Gains in Davie County

By Jeanna Baxter White Kindergarten readiness in Davie County has already shown tremendous gains in just the first two years of DavieLEADS, according to a report by Davie County Schools.   Funded by a five-year, $2.5 million grant from the Mebane Foundation, DavieLEADS (Literacy Empowers All in Davie to Succeed) is an early learning and literacy initiative with two major goals. The first is to increase kindergarten readiness to 90 percent by reaching and fostering the development of children at an early age (birth to kindergarten) through consistent curriculum, instruction, and experiences in preschool programs. $2 Million Grant Awarded to Mocksville for Infrastructure Improvements to Support Jobs

By Jeanna Baxter White The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority has awarded the Town of Mocksville a $2 million Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) to support public water and sewer improvements to accommodate Brakebush Brothers, Inc., a manufacturer of processed poultry products for foodservice, industrial, and chain accounts. The company began operations in Mocksville in October. The grant supports the creation of more than 200 jobs, along with a private investment of $60 million.
