Bermuda Run Garden Club Invites you to “Feed the Beast!” – Shred Event Saturday, October 8

Purge those piles, clean out those cabinets, and support your community.

The Bermuda Run Garden Club would like to help you get rid of  your old, outdated paperwork during their biannual paper-shredding event on Saturday, October 8th, rain or shine.

The event will take place from 9 am – noon in the Bermuda Run Town Hall parking off US 158 at 120 Kinderton Boulevard.

Cor365’s mobile truck, “The Beast,”  will shred your papers onsite to protect your privacy. Shredding outdated personal documents, bank statements, insurance policies, etc. helps to eliminate identity fraud as well as protects our environment by recycling paper.

The cost is $5 cash per brown paper grocery bag or equivalent sized box.  This event is for paper shredding only. Please do not include cardboard, carbon paper, plastics, transparencies, or electronic materials, like CDs or microfiche.

This event is a win-win for everyone. Not only do you get to safely and securely rid yourself of superfluous paperwork, the proceeds go to community programs supported by the club.

Over the past three years, the project has raised around $5000.

The club supports A Storehouse for Jesus, by donating food, sponsoring meals at Thanksgiving, conducting a blanket drive, and creating centerpieces for an annual Christmas dinner.

Other projects include donating books on horticulture and design to the Davie County Public Library, creating small bouquets of flowers once each quarter for the Meals on Wheels food trays, providing centerpieces for a dinner that benefits Hospice, and supporting Pearls of Empowerment. Many club members serve as lunch buddies for Pinebrook Elementary School.

In November, the club hosted Thanksgiving dinner for 175 students and teachers from the Davie County.

Last year the club gave $1,000 to the Davie Community Foundation to support the Children’s Reading Program Summer Camp, which provides students with the extra reading assistance they need to move on to the next grade level.  

The club has also combined proceeds from the shredding events and the annual geranium sale to establish a $5000 endowed fund with the Davie County Community Foundation. The Bermuda Run Garden Club Community Fund will provide grants to projects that impact youth, literacy, and healthy living in Davie County.  

The club’s next shredding event will be held at the Bermuda Run Town Hall on May 20, 2017.
