Calling All Davie County Photographers ~ Enter the Davie County Arts Council Photo Contest

Whether photography is your passion, your hobby, or just an occasional pastime, you are invited to participate in the Davie County Arts Council photo contest, celebrating the beauty and unique character of Davie County.

Both amateur and professional photographers are welcome to participate. Photos may be submitted as prints, see contest rules for details.

Entries for the Contest must be received on either Tuesday, January 3rd 2012, between the hours of 5:00 pm and 7:30 pm or on Wednesday, January 4th, 2012 from Noon until 4:00 pm at the Davie County Arts Council.

Eligibility
Entrants must be at least 18 years of age.  Photos may be submitted in either black and white or color, but must have been taken in Davie County within the last three years. The photo subject must be relevant to Looking at Davie County.   Following is a list of suggested subjects:

  • Davie County Landscapes
  • Davie County Historical Sites
  • Davie County Recreation
  • Davie County Agriculture & Rural Life
  • Davie County Towns and Communities

Submission Guidelines
Photo Formats Entries are to be submitted as an unframed but mounted photograph. Photos must be a minimum of 8″ x 10″ but no larger than 48″ x 48″. Please read the guidelines for submitting prints.

Judging
Entries will be judged on the basis of creativity, photographic quality, and effectiveness in conveying the beauty and/or unique character of Davie County. A panel of professional photographers will judge the entries.

Winners
Judges will select a first, second and third place winners. One or more honorable mention winners may be selected in categories at the discretion of the judging panel.   First Place Award: $350 ~ Second Place Award: $225 ~ Third Place Award: $100

Winners will be notified during a reception held at the opening of an exhibit of all entries on Thursday, January 12th, 2012 in the Brock Performing Arts Center‘s Gallery from 5:30 p.m. till 7:00 p.m.
