Ahoy there, Mateys! Don your best pirate or mermaid costume and join us for a free Pirate Party in downtown Mocksville this Saturday, September 9th, from 1 – 4 p.m., rain or shine.
Sail down Main Street in search of treasure. Participating merchants will have a red X on their door or window to mark the spot. Take a selfie with a live pirate if you dare! There will be a bounce house and swashbuckling games and activities at Main Street Park and along the street. Southern Grubbin, The Sunny Lemon, and Justice Farmhouse Cupcakes, along with our local restaurants, will be serving up delectable dishes.
Pirate Party activities will run along Main Street from Main Street Park to the quad. Participants are invited to hop on the trail at any point and follow the red Xs.
Free parking is available at Skyline National Bank, the Town Hall parking lot at 171 S. Clement Street, and next to Main Street Park at 278 N. Main Street.
This event was a hit last year, so the Downtown Mocksville Collaborative (DMC) is excited to host it for a second year.
“The positive response from last year’s event, mixed with the excitement from the community about this year, is sure to make for another fun-filled Pirate Party,” said Dottie Graham, president of the DMC. “The DMC is thrilled to be able to host the Pirate Party again this year. The outpouring of support and excitement from the community brings a lot of visitors to Downtown Mocksville, many of whom have never been here before!”
“The Pirate Party offers merchants, service providers, and community members a chance to enjoy a whimsical afternoon of fun,” added Suzanne Lakey, vice president of the DMC and owner of Southern Ties Boutique and The Station. “The DMC is excited to bring this event to life with the help of so many. As a business owner, I love seeing all the kids dressed up and being able to give back to a community that loves and supports us so well.”
Last year’s community partners are looking forward to participating again this year. Jessica White, site coordinator for Cognition Davie, enjoyed being part of the first Pirate Party in 2022. “It was wonderful seeing families having fun together in Downtown Mocksville. We are thrilled to be part of a community that has so much to offer for its children.”
The DMC is grateful to event co-sponsors, the Town of Mocksville, Davie County Tourism, and Skyline National Bank, as well as several additional community members and businesses that contributed to the DMC to ensure the success of this event.
