Further Easing of Restrictions on Businesses and Gatherings Effective Friday – Vaccination Rates Play Key Role

Beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 24th, some places in North Carolina will be able to open at 100% capacity, including museums, aquariums, retail businesses, and salons. During a COVID update on Tuesday, Gov. Roy Cooper also announced that restaurants, breweries, wineries, amusement parks, gyms, and other recreation establishments will be able to have up to 75% capacity indoors and 100% outdoors. The Davie County Health and Human Services Division of Social Services has Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) funds available to the public, these funds are available until the end of March. What is the Low Income Energy Assistance Program?The Low Income Energy Assistance Program gives families a one-time vendor payment to help pay their heating bills. Davie County Celebrates Black History Month

In 1976, President Carter officially recognized Black History Month, calling upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”* In celebration of those accomplishments, Davie County Senior Services and the Dorothy Graham family will co-sponsor the annual Black History Month program. Covid Curfew Goes into Effect Friday

Governor Roy Cooper’s latest effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 is a “modified stay at home/early closure” order that will act as a statewide curfew from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Executive Order No. 181 goes into effect at 5 p.m. Friday, December 11, 2020, and lasts through at least Jan. 8, 2021. Davie County Cooperative Extension Office Sponsors Community Food Drive

No one should go hungry. This year’s challenges have made the need for food donations greater than ever.  N.C. Cooperative Extension, Davie County Center, is sponsoring a food drive through December 11th to benefit local food pantries.   Drop Off Donations by December 11, 2020 There will be a collection box outside the front door of the extension office, located at 180 South Main Street in downtown Mocksville, beside the courthouse, for no-contact drop-offs. North Carolina Tightens Mask Requirements

On Monday Governor Roy Cooper issued additional COVID-19 safety measures to tighten face-covering requirements and enforcement as cases continue to rise rapidly in North Carolina and across the country.
