Beekeeping Short Course starts this Wednesday!

Free and open to the public, Let’s Talk About It (LTAI) is a library discussion series that brings scholars and community members together to explore how selected books, films, or poetry illuminate a particular theme.  This free and informal program begins with a presentation by a local scholar followed by refreshments and discussion. Our State: Down Home in North Carolina, a prestigious and celebrated monthly magazine names Davie County as one of 12 locations to visit across the state of North Carolina. New Year’s Eve Gala Event to Benefit the Advocacy Center of Davie County

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Ladies and Gentlemen, you are invited to “The King’s Ball” on New Year’s Eve.  This promises to be a memorable, fun filled gala event including a live band (Phase Band), cash bar, heavy hors doevres and plenty of dancing.   Organized by Katy Junker of Mocksville, all proceeds from the event will benefit the Advocacy Center of Davie County. Surprise Guest Appears in Advance Christmas Parade!

There was a surprise appearance by a well-known political figure at the Advance Christmas Parade.  The surprise guest steps out of a massive white stretch-limousine about one minute into the first video. You can catch the entire parade on the Davie County YouTube Channel. See the Davie County Marching Band, The South Davie Band, dancers, horse drawn carriages, tractors, classic cars, rescue vehicles, fire engines, tons of floats… and of course, Santa Claus.

19th Annual Limited Edition Davie County Christmas Ornament Premiering This Weekend

In what has become a treasured Davie County tradition, the 2009 Davie County Christmas Ornament will be premiered this weekend during the annual open house held by the local shops in historic downtown Mocksville from 1 to 5 PM on Sunday, November 22rd. Local artist Janet Dean has captured a scene from a bygone era for the 2009 ornament, a painting of a bustling, historic “Martin Brothers” building. Farmington Fall Expo

The Farmington Fall Expo, October 24th at the Farmington Community Center is a benefit for the Farmington Playground Project.  The expo is a showcase of local businesses and vendors providing a variety of goods and services.  Even on this rainy day, turnout was great.   Guests enjoyed shopping, food, music, hayrides, crafts, and games for children provided by the Girl Scouts. The day also included musical performances by Farmington Bluegrass, Escaping Inertia (Christian Rock), and In Flight Gymnasium.
