Davie Life Magazine Celebrates First Year!

Davie Life Magazine, “A Magazine Dedicated to Davie County” hit the newsstands on Friday, November 12th.  Davie Life is a complimentary magazine published by Davie County native Wendy Horne and is available at the Chamber of Commerce, local libraries and town halls, and everywhere there is a lot of foot traffic in Davie County. Cooleemee Historical Association ~ How You Can Help

With over 330 original mill houses, the Bullhole and dam at RiverPark and the old cotton mill still standing along the banks of the South Yadkin River, Cooleemee is perhaps the best preserved Southern mill village of the post civil-war industrial age.  Cooleemee’s mill, built in 1900 at the height of the South’s mill building era, closed in 1969. Preserved as private homes, most of the mill houses are still in excellent architectural condition.  The work on RiverPark at Cooleemee Falls has breathed new life into the banks of the river and the dam which provided power for the mill.  […]

Ingersoll Rand Brings Over 200 Additional Manufacturing Jobs to Mocksville!

Phil Wekenmann, the Plant Manager at Ingersoll Rand in Mocksville provided an upbeat update to community leaders from across Davie County at a recent quarterly update meeting hosted by the Davie County Economic Development Commission. Over the last 18 months, Ingersoll Rand has hired more than 200 people for the manufacturing plant in Mocksville as employment there has more than doubled. Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina opened its newest store in Mocksville today. The new store, located at 1355 Yadkinville Road in Mocksville, a replacement store for the 1117 Yadkinville Road location, is twice the size and offers a convenient covered donation drive-through. 2010 Veteran’s Day Essay and Poster Contest

Davie County students are invited to enter the 2010 Veteran’s Day essay and poster contest.  The topic for the 2010 contest is “How can I do my duty to my country.” The poster contest is open to all Davie County students from kindergarten through 5th grade and the essay contest is open to all Davie County students from 6th through 12th grade.
