Time is Running Out to Complete the Census

Did you know that your ten minutes will positively impact our community for the next 10 years? This Wednesday, September 30, is the final day to complete the 2020 Census. Long Term Water Strategy Will Allow for Maximum Economic Growth

Davie County and the Town of Mocksville are partnering on a long-term water strategy to secure the county’s water supply and to allow for economic growth over the next 20 or more years in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.    Davie County owns and operates the 2.6 mgd (million gallons per day)  Cooleemee Water Treatment Plant (WTP) in southern Davie County with an intake on the South Yadkin River. Davie County Mom Returns Home to Childhood Property with Help from Clayton Homes and Family Promise

Sometimes dreams do come true, just ask Sonya Allen. Allen and her two teenage children, Smitty and Elaine, experienced homelessness after a water main break forced them to permanently move out of the home they owned. Census Bureau Begins Door to Door Visits

If you haven’t completed the census, expect a knock on your door. This week, the U.S. Census Bureau began following up with households nationwide that have not yet responded to the 2020 Census.  Based on the current national self-response rate of 63.3%, the Census Bureau estimates it will need to visit about 56 million addresses to collect responses in person. As of August 9th, Davie County ranked fourth in the state, with 67.7% of the county’s residents having responded.
