Classic Cars “Cruise-In” ~ Tonight in Historic Downtown Mocksville

Visit the beautiful and historic square in downtown Mocksville this evening for a classic car “Cruise-In” presented by the Piedmont Classic C.A.R.S. Club. The cruise-in draws participants from the surrounding areas stretching from the Virginia border to the Sandhills ~ West from Wilkes County and East to Alamance and Wake Counties.   If the weather is kind, the cruise-in will draw as many as 250 cars. Mobile Manufacturing Lab at the Intersection of Education and Industry

Custom Trailer Delivering Advanced Manufacturing Skills DCCC, the Community College of Davidson and Davie Counties has unveiled its latest investment in advanced manufacturing: a mobile manufacturing lab that will bring advanced manufacturing skills training directly to local manufacturers. The DCCC mobile manufacturing lab which was unveiled this week at the Davie Campus of DCCC will expand the advanced manufacturing workforce by bringing advanced manufacturing training directly to manufacturing facilities, allowing manufacturers to provide training to more workers. Interstate 40 closed all weekend at Yadkin River Bridge The North Carolina Department of Transportation will close I-40 Eastbound at Exit 180, NC 801 near Bermuda Run beginning at 8:00pm on Friday, July 26, 2013. This closure will be in place continuously through 6:00am Monday, July 29, 2013 and will consist of preservation and rehabilitation work on the bridge that carries I-40 East over the Yadkin River. During these closures, motorists travelling locally should take Exit 180, NC 801, and turn right. Then turn left onto US-158 and left onto Harper Road back to I-40 Eastbound at Exit 182.   Terry Bralley, President of Davie County Economic Development Commission, has been named the North Carolina 2013 Economic Developer of the Year in recognition of his outstanding achievements. “Terry’s hard work has positively impacted jobs and investment throughout Davie County,” stated Linda Weiner,  North Carolina Economic Developers Association Immediate Past President. “This award is our organization’s way of recognizing his dedication to his community, the economic development profession and our state.” A county that started with a 10 percent unemployment rate in 2012, Davie County announced over $185 million in new investment and 850 potential new jobs in one year.
