Davie County EDC Provides Development Update to NC Department of Commerce

The Davie County Economic Development Commission met with the North Carolina Department of Commerce at their offices in Raleigh in late November.  The purpose of the meeting was to update the Department of Commerce on development activities in Davie County and to provide details on buildings and sites available for development in the county. Davie County Students Transform Life for School Children in South Africa Village!

In 2009, under the leadership of two Davie County teachers, Cindy Orsillo and Carrie Chapple, students at Pinebrook Elementary School raised more than $11,000 to dig a fresh-water well for a school in Legogote, South Africa, a village that is 8,388 miles away! Advance Christmas Parade This Saturday, 10 AM

The 2011 Advance, NC Christmas Parade will be held this Saturday, December 10th, beginning at 10:00 AM.  No pre-registration is required, just be at Shady Grove Elementary School before 9:00 AM. Enjoy the Parade and then Warm up with Chicken Stew! $7.5 Million Gift Assures Continued Academic Leadership and Workforce Preparedness for Davidson and Davie Counties

DCCC, the Community College of Davidson and Davie Counties, received a $7.5 million gift from the late Christine Harris of Lexington.   The donation is by far the largest gift to the college and is one of the largest gifts in North Carolina community college history, according to Jenny Varner, executive director of the DCCC Foundation. Help us “Flag” the Tree of Honor

A “Tribute Tree” to honor and/or remember those who serve or have served to protect our freedom will be located beside the Mocksville Police Department during the 2011 holiday season. The Goal is to fill the Entire Tree with Flags! For each $1 contribution, a United States flag will be placed on the tree to represent a designated service person.  The contributions will be presented to the Davie County Veteran’s Administration for local veteran services.
