$7.5 Million Gift Assures Continued Academic Leadership and Workforce Preparedness for Davidson and Davie Counties

DCCC, the Community College of Davidson and Davie Counties, received a $7.5 million gift from the late Christine Harris of Lexington.   The donation is by far the largest gift to the college and is one of the largest gifts in North Carolina community college history, according to Jenny Varner, executive director of the DCCC Foundation. A “Tribute Tree” to honor and/or remember those who serve or have served to protect our freedom will be located beside the Mocksville Police Department during the 2011 holiday season. The Goal is to fill the Entire Tree with Flags! Mocksville Woman’s Club and the Town of Mocksville Celebrate America Recycles Day!

The Mocksville Woman’s Club and the Town of Mocksville celebrate America Recycles Day from noon until 2:00 PM today at Junker’s Mill Outdoor Theater. Davie County Schools and local businesses are busy helping protect our environment and their customers by recycling confidential paper reports and other items in a “Shred South” commercial shredding truck set up for this purpose today.
