Music enthusiasts are in for a rare treat when David Osborne, “Pianist to the Presidents,” takes the stage at the Brock Performing Arts Center on Saturday, January 20th at 7:30 pm.
His blend of romantic, classical, jazz, pop, inspirational, patriotic and Broadway show tunes is guaranteed to wow music lovers of all ages.
Making their second appearance at the Brock due to requests from its patrons, the Davie Arts Council looks forward to welcoming the David Osborne Trio back to Davie County.
“Pianist to the President”
Osborne has given performances at the White House for every American President since Ronald Reagan. He is also a regular performer for Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter in Plains, Georgia. He created and organized President Carter’s 75th birthday tribute in 1999 and has performed at each birthday party since. President Carter has said that “David is one of the finest pianists in the United States.”
Furthering the Tradition of Romantic Piano
When he is not touring with the David Osborne Trio, Osborne performs at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip. He has released 27 CD’s, and his recordings on the Northstar Music label have become the #1 romantic piano recordings in the nation, selling over a million copies.
A Lifetime of Music
Born and raised in Miami, Oklahoma, Osborne began playing piano by ear at the age of four. He started formal training when he was five years old. Osborne received his undergraduate degree from Oral Roberts University. At Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, he studied classical pipe organ and piano performance, with a minor in French. At Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas he completed a master’s degree in keyboard performance and music composition.
A few of Osborne’s more significant recent events include a concert for the American Breast Cancer Awareness Foundation; an interview and performance on TV’s “The 700 Club”; a concert for the Steinway and Sons International convention of worldwide dealers at the Beverly Hills Hotel; a benefit concert at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, N.Y.; two concerts for Mr. and Mrs. Don Hall, CEO of Hallmark Cards in Kansas City; and a performance in Las Vegas, playing the Steinway pianos of Vladimir Horowitz, Van Cliburn and George Gershwin at Southern Nevada Music as a part of Steinway and Sons Legendary Instruments of the Immortals Tour.
This concert is part of the 2017-2018 Season of Applause! Performance series sponsored by the Davie County Arts Council, which is dedicated to the discovery, appreciation, and enrichment of the arts throughout Davie County. The Arts Council has been carrying out its mission of “Connecting PEOPLE to the ARTS!” for decades. The final show in the series will be “Barbra & Frank, The Concert That Never Was” on Saturday, February 10, 2018, 7:30 pm. Sharon Owens and Sebastian Anzaldo, two of the most impressive celebrity impersonators in the business, travel the world performing their uncanny tribute to the two famous singers- Frank Sinatra and Barbra Streisand. Their performance will make your Valentine’s date night a special one!
