Davie Chamber Introduces New Award to Pro Scramble
Davie County golfers are practicing their putting as they prepare for the Davie County Chamber of Commerce 24th Pro Scramble Golf Tournament which will be held at Bermuda Run Country Club on September 13th.
The tournament is a favorite among the business community for its unique format of five amateur players paired with a professional golfer. As the Chamber’s key annual fundraiser, proceeds are designated to fund their major business and economic development initiatives as well as networking and educational programs.
“Highlights of the tournament include a “Hole in One” contest, a “Chipping Wall Challenge, and “Closest to the Pin Winner.” This year’s tournament will introduce a new more meaningful prize; a trophy that honors a special person who has made a powerful and lasting impact on Davie County,” said Chamber President Caroline Moser. “The trophy is an added and unique feature that recognizes the individual who has placed our county on the map.”
“Our county has many great leaders who have had such an impact on our success,” said Matt Britt, marketing manager for Wake Forest Baptist Health Davie Medical Center and a member of the Chamber Board of Directors.” But when you think about the Chamber, and its goals around business growth and community and bringing economic success to our county, one name seemed to rise above. This man is the face of our county, and you truly cannot attend a significant event without hearing him speak or seeing him present. We are eternally grateful to him for all that he has done for our community and our economic development. Without further ado, I would like to introduce into the history of Davie County and the Chamber …. The Terry Bralley Trophy.”
Britt explained that the trophy is the collective brainchild of Chamber leadership, Davidson – Davie Community College, EXG Brands, and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist-Davie Medical Center. The centerpiece, including the eagle flying above it, was created by the welding class at Davidson-Davie Community College.
The trophy and a plaque honoring Bralley and engraved with the names of the winning teams will be on display at the Chamber office.
“We are extremely thankful for the community’s support of our tournament and the volunteers who help us with our event,” said Moser.
