Time for a New Hobby ~ Backyard Honey Bees!
There is nothing quite as sweet as honey from the beehives in your own back yard. Honey bees pollinate most of the food we eat and they help gardens produce a greater abundance of fruit and vegetables. The honey they produce is healthier then sugar and can dramatically reduce the impact of seasonal allergies. Raising honey bees is an easy, fun and rewarding hobby. Keeping a couple of hives in your own backyard requires very little effort compared to the benefits they pass on.
Davie County Beekeepers Association
The Davie County Beekeepers Association was founded in 1978 and is a group of friendly and knowledgeable folks who are always eager to help one another and to share their knowledge and experience. They meet at 6:30 PM on the second Monday of every month at the Davie County EMS Building located at 108 Dr. Slate Drive. They share a pot-luck meal periodically and host entertaining and informative speakers every month. Annual membership dues are only $15 for an individual or $30 for the entire family. Beekeeping is a wonderful family activity where everyone can be involved.
