The Davie County Beekeepers Association will hold its annual Beginner Beekeeping Short Course starting this Saturday, January 1oth.

Did you know North Carolina has more backyard beekeepers than any other state?  Have you ever considered keeping bees?  Would you like to know more about this fascinating hobby or occupation?  Join the Davie County Beekeepers Association for the 2 day class, “How to Get Started in Beekeeping.”

Classes Begin Saturday, January 10th, 2015.
When: Saturday ,January 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st and Feb 7th, 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m, and tentative field day April 4th weather permitting

Where: Davie County Extension Office 180 S Main St, Mocksville, NC 27028 MAP IT

Course Fee: $45.00 per person Includes a one year membership in Davie County Beekeepers Association

Additional Information: This class is being taught by N C State Apiary Inspector and E.A.S. Master Beekeeper Greg Fariss. The class offers a basic education in bees and beekeeping with the intention of providing the information and guidance necessary to obtain bees and get started in beekeeping.

Davie Beekeepers – 40 Years of Service 
The Davie County Beekeepers Association has been helping members enjoy the hobby of beekeeping since 1972 and is part of the North Carolina State Beekeeping Association. The state association has been around for almost a century, and is the largest state beekeeping association in the country. 

Friendly neighbors and helping hands
In addition to the information you glean from this course, you will have the opportunity to meet other beginning beekeepers as well as some “old-timers”.  You’ll make contacts with local beekeepers who can provide answers to future questions as well as continuing support.  You can find a mentor to help you with your new adventure, and club members can even help you “install” your first package of bees or capture a swarm.
