Davie County Chamber of Commerce 40th Annual Awards Banquet!

Nearly 200 Davie County business and civic leaders attended the Davie County Chamber of Commerce 40th Annual Awards Banquet for an evening of delicious food, lively entertainment and engaging company at the beautiful Bermuda Run Country Club on Friday, October 15th.

The dance floor was full to capacity for much of the evening as “The Black and Blue Band” belted out popular blues, rock, and dance classics.  The band displayed an amazing range of vocal and instrumental talent as they played dozens of requests from the audience.

While the food and entertainment drew in the crowds for a memorable evening, the highlight of the event was the presentation of the annual awards.

Davie County 2009 Business of the Year

Jerry Anderson, Dianne Anderson, Erin Anderson, Chris Anderson

The first award presented was the Davie County Business of the year award presented to Anderson Aggregates by Jim Eaton.   While accepting the award, Chris Anderson was clearly humbled by this recognition from his peers in Davie County.  Anderson Aggregates was supporting green development practices years before “green” was popular.    While environmentally friendly development is at the core of Anderson Aggregates value proposition for its customers, the people-friendly business practices of the Anderson family make this a great employer for Davie County.

John Collins, Marie Colline

John Collins, Marie Collins

The next award presented was the E.C. Tatum Humanitarian Award presented to Storehouse for Jesus by Davie County State Representative Julia Howard.  While accepting the award, Marie Collins noted that this Christian ministry is a completely volunteer effort and that no one has ever received a salary.  All items are given away at the Storehouse, nothing is ever sold.  Marie thanked Davie County citizens and civic leaders for their continued hard work and overwhelming generosity.  In the last year alone, more than 400 volunteers from Davie County worked at the Storehouse and helped to distribute almost half a million items to those in need.  Visit http://www.astorehouseforjesus.org to learn more about this exciting ministry and to find out how you can help those in need in Davie County and beyond.
