Congratulations to Foster Drug in Mocksville, NC for winning the highly coveted “Top Independent Pharmacists” award. This prestigious award, given annually by Drug Topics Magazine, the leading newsmagazine for pharmacies, is the cover story for the October, 2009 issue.
Most Davie County residents already appreciate the friendly, professional service they get at Foster Drug. This well-deserved award lets others across the nation know that Davie County is home to this world-class independent pharmacy which continues to have a positive impact on our community.
The event leading to the award began at about 10:30 PM on March 12, 2007 when an explosion occurred and a fire broke out at a local residential care facility down the street from Foster Drug. When the fire broke out residents of the facility were temporarily moved to hospitals and local nursing homes. Foster Drug pharmacists and employees worked through the night checking, re-checking and packaging medications and making copies of all prescriptions and medical records for each resident. As a result of this effort, a one week supply of medication was provided for each resident, packaged with detailed instructions and a picture of the resident.
Mark White, Diane Smith and Bill Foster
Team work by first responder fire fighters and medical professionals, pharmacy, nursing home and hospital employees helped assure uninterrupted continuity of care for each resident during and after the emergency.
This is a great story about Foster Drug and a great example of what makes Davie County such a great place to live, work, learn and play.

I think that it’s great Foster Drug won this award! Since I’ve known Bill my whole life I can say, from experience, that he and his pharmacy were both very deserving of this award.
