Patriotism and love of county and country are alive and well in Davie County. As our nation celebrates its 237th birthday, our community has a week planned that is filled with fun for all ages!
Free Event ~ Cruisin’ into the Holiday
Davie County starts off the week with a Cruise in on Monday, July 1st. Come to Historic downtown Mocksville from 5:30 until dusk and enjoy the beauty of classic cars. Enjoy music by D.J. Barry Rentz and try your luck with a 50/50 raffle. This is an opportunity to meet with fellow car enthusiasts and all proceeds benefit Hospice of Davie County. Admission is free, so come out and enjoy an evening of cruising!
Free Event ~ Lawnmower Parade with Free Ice Cream, Watermelon and Snow Cones
Start off your Independence celebration in Cooleemee with its annual Lawnmower Parade. The parade begins at 10:00 am at the Cooleemee Elementary School ends at the Zachary House with free ice cream, watermelon, and snow cones. What a great way to start off the holiday!
Free Event ~ Rich Park Explodes this Independence Day
Independence Day is known for its explosive fireworks, and at Rich Park, Davie County will deliver a most impressive fireworks show. July 4th, Rich Park is open with entertainment, food, live music, and of course Fireworks! The park begins its festivities at 6:00 pm with fireworks beginning at 9:00. Admission is free, though there is a $5.00 parking fee in some locations. This is a family safe environment, and there is plenty for the young ones to do.
Free Event ~ 14th Annual PAPA Antique Tractor and Engine Show
The weekend closes with the 14th Annual PAPA Antique Tractor and Engine show. Again, this event is free and boasts antique tractors, farm equipment, and a host of vendors. Step back in time this Independence Day weekend and celebrate the heritage of Davie County with this event which runs Friday and Saturday from 7:00 am until 8:00 pm. Friday promises fun with live music and various other activities. Saturday begins with a parade of Antique Tractors in historic Downtown Mocksville. After the parade, there will be a raffle in which someone will win an antique tractor! There are other prizes as well including a cash prize. Vendor space is available.
