Dr. Elliot Engel; Scholar, Performer and Storyteller Coming to Davie County Library ~ Two Performances
Dr. Elliot Engel travels the world speaking throughout the U.S. and in Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.

On Thursday, November 3rd at 4 and 7 PM, Dr. Engel will return to the Davie County Public Library to bring “The Genius of Mark Twain” to life with his infectious enthusiasm and inspiring anecdotes.

A Hilarious and Moving Story
Dr. Engel will reveal the hilarious and moving story of Mark Twain, from his early life to his triumphs with “Innocents Abroad” and “Huckleberry Finn.”  Professor Engel sets the background for an appreciation of Twain’s classic works.

Thousands of Fans World Wide ~ Dr. Elliot Engel
Originally from Indianapolis, Dr. Engel now resides in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he has taught courses at North Carolina State University, University of North Carolina, and Duke University.  Dr. Engel earned his M.A. and Ph.D. as a Woodrow Wilson Fellow at UCLA. While at UCLA he won the university’s Outstanding Teacher Award. In addition, for his scholarship and teaching he has received North Carolina’s Adult Education Award and the Victorian Society Award of Merit.

Dr. Engel has written ten books published both in England and the United States. Many of his articles have appeared in national magazines, including Newsweek. Professor Engel has written three plays which have been produced during the last five years. PBS Television stations around the country aired Professor Engel’s mini-lecture series on his favorite author, Charles Dickens.
