Downtown Mocksville will continue it’s holiday celebrations with Winterfest on Saturday, December 2nd from noon- 5:00 p.m. at Junker’s Mill followed by a free holiday concert at the Brock at 7:00 p.m.
New This Year! Progressive Storybook!
This FREE family fun event will feature a progressive storybook “The Snowy Day” (a walking storybook promoted through the Davie County Public Library). Children will start this reading adventure at Sadie’s Unique Boutique (185 N. Main St.) and continue to read the pages of the book in merchant’s storefront windows. Children will collect tokens for each page read. After completing this unique journey, the children will arrive at Junker’s Mill Outdoor Theater where they will receive a prize bag containing goodies and a coloring book & crayons. A few copies of “The Snowy Day” will also be given away. Junker’s Mill Outdoor Stage is located at 105 S. Salisbury Street.
“I read about this project from the Town of Concord and thought…WHAT A WONDERFUL IDEA!” said Tami Langdon, community development coordinator. “The progressive storybook allows us to “hook up” with our local library and promote its services, to involve the entire family with the reading of the book which promotes literacy, AND to get more folks involved with our local merchants and their retail services.”
Inflatables! Hay Rides! Pony Rides!
Winterfest will also include other fun activities such as inflatables (Dual Lane Patriot Slide has a 22-foot drop!), free hay rides after 1:00 p.m., and small pony rides!
Food and drinks will be available for purchase from the Davie County High School Band Boosters which will be serving hot dogs, pizza, drinks and more and Curtis Chalmers who will be selling “icee” desserts and hot drinks, or enjoy one of Mocksville’s delicious downtown restaurants.
Please Bring Nonperishable Food Items for A Storehouse for Jesus
This is the season for giving, so please bring non-perishable food items for A Storehouse for Jesus. As part of their RUSH (Rotarians United to Stop Hunger) campaign, the Mocksville Rotary Club will have collection boxes available around Junker’s Mill.
This wonderful family event is presented by the Mocksville Tourism Development Authority.
