The Davie County Arts Council presents Charlie Thomas’ Drifters at 7:30 PM on Saturday, Feb 26th at the Brock Performing Arts Center. Hear Charlie Thomas’ Drifters perform some of their greatest hit songs, including This Magic Moment, Under The Boardwalk, Up on the Roof, Some Kind of Wonderful, Saturday Night at the Movies, I Count the Tears, Save the Last Dance for Me, Sweets for My Sweet, When My Little Girl Is Smiling, and I’ll Take You Home.
A Rich History
Born in 1937, Charlie Thomas has been in show business for over 50 years, first singing gospel music. After a short stint with the Orioles, then the Five Crowns, Mr. Thomas joined the Drifters in 1958.
The Streetwise Sound of R&B Suffused with Gospel Influence
Charlie Thomas’ voice has been described as “the streetwise sound of R&B suffused with gospel influence,” and his voice can be heard on every recording The Drifters made since 1958.
The group today tours throughout the world as “Charlie Thomas’ Drifters in order to be distinquishable from the many fake groups claiming to be The Drifters. The only real Drifter still doing The Drifters greatest hits is Charlie Thomas.

The Drifters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988.
