The History of St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick’s Day, celebrated annually on March 17th, honors St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Originally a religious feast day, it has evolved into a global celebration of Irish culture featuring parades, festivals, music, and the wearing of green. According to legend, St. Patrick used the three-leafed shamrock to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity, which is why the shamrock has become a symbol of the holiday. Today, St. Patrick’s Day is known for its lively spirit and sense of community — both of which you’ll find in Mocksville’s festivities!
