Join the Fun! – National Night Out Celebration on August 2nd in Downtown Mocksville

Meet your neighbors! Come to Downtown Mocksville on August 2nd from 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. and enjoy live music, bounce houses, free food and drinks, public speakers, and more as Davie County celebrates National Night Out.

Live music from two bands will begin around 5:15 p.m. There will be a dunking booth and a fire alley with multiple fire departments for young and old to enjoy interaction with fire trucks and places for kids to cool down. Many public resources will also set up informational booths.

Founded in 1984, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign designed to promote neighborhood camaraderie and strengthen the relationship between police and communities. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides an excellent opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

“I am extremely pleased to announce that National Night Out will be in downtown Mocksville, thanks to Sheriff (J.D.)Hartman, who is always trying to better the relationship between law enforcement and the public,” said Lt. Mike Butero, who is heading the effort and handles community relations, victim’s rights, and Neighborhood Watch and crime prevention programs for the sheriff’s office.

“We have gone a step farther and have invited all available public resources to this event,” Butero said. “This means that not only strengthening relations with law enforcement, but we are also making citizens aware of all resources that are offered in Davie.”

Since 1984, millions of neighbors across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories, and military bases worldwide have participated in this annual event held on the first Tuesday in August (Texas and select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October).  Mocksville is one of 106 North Carolina communities participating in this year’s event.
