A federal holiday since 1894, Labor Day celebrates the value of work and the rewards it brings.  Labor day also pays tribute to the strength and vitality of the American labor force and its contribution to America’s strength, freedom and political democracy.

Work ~ Moral and Spiritual Significance
In “The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism” Max Weber claimed in 1904 that worldly activities dedicated to economic gain are endowed with moral and spiritual significance.
