“Last Date” The Floyd Cramer Story This Saturday at the Brock 

A family legacy continued. Pianist Jason ‘Floyd’ Coleman will bring new life to the music made famous by his grandfather, Floyd Cramer, in a piano concert of country and pop classics, as the Davie County Arts Council presents “Last Date” The Floyd Cramer Story on January 21st at 7:30.

This concert is part of the Seasons of Applause series at the Brock Performing Arts Center, located at 622 N. Main St. in Mocksville. Tickets are on sale now!

From Humble Beginnings to the Hall of Fame

From humble beginnings on the Louisiana Hayride to a Hall of Fame recording career in Nashville, to the iconic “Last Date” and signature ‘slip-note’ piano style, Coleman plays his way through the musical history of his grandfather to tell the Floyd Cramer story in a way no one else can.

Coleman performed with his grandfather on television and in concert at a young age. At age 17, Coleman played “Please Help Me, I’m Falling”, the first song to feature Cramer’s signature slip notes, with Hank Locklin at the Grand Ole Opry, and two years later played piano for the Medallion Ceremony at Cramer’s induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. He continues to carry on his grandfather’s legacy by performing his well-known piano arrangements and sharing the story of his contributions to American music.

Plus, the concert is much more than just music . . . Jason incorporates multimedia to share his own personal stories, photos, and films of growing up with his “Grandad,” culminating in a series of video duets between Jason and Floyd that bridge the generations and will take your breath away!
