Davie County and the Piedmont Triad is getting its first professional summer stock theatre company in decades. Broadway’s Best Theatre Company of NC has announced plans to open a 250 seat theatre in the former ACE Hardware facility located at the intersection of Farmington Road and I-40 in Davie County. The company plans to begin performances next year for the summer of 2013.
New 250 Seat Theatre
The theatre will be located just off I-40 and Farmington Road at 103 Beechtree Place in the former Ace Hardware building. The 6,000 square foot facility will be upgraded with new AC and Heat, new restrooms and office space. Broadway’s Best will create a professional, state of the art theatre with a 30′ X 30′ proscenium stage, wings and backstage dressing rooms and a 250 seat auditorium with lobby and gallery space.
The beautiful rural setting will be used to the fullest, providing an attractive lounging area outside with picnic tables and seating for patrons. They plan to partner with other nonprofits or food service providers for food and refreshments outside the facility and will upgrade parking and traffic patterns to accommodate private parties as well as bus tours and shuttles.
Production Plans
Broadway’s Best mission is to provide affordable, quality theatre and other arts and entertainment opportunities to the people of Davie County, the Triad and surrounding areas.
They are planning a season of 3 musicals and 2 plays over a 10 – 12 week summer schedule. The theatre will specialize in “family friendly” entertainment with something for everyone. The theatre will produce both familiar and new hit Broadway musicals and plays, utilizing professional performers, musicians, designers and technicians.
In addition to the summer season, they will produce an annual fall and spring production as well as a Holiday Show in December. During the remainder of the year, Broadway’s Best will make their facility available for performances by visiting music, dance, theatre and children’s theatre companies.
Performing Arts Jobs and Tourism
The Piedmont Triad region is rich with performing arts programs and Broadway’s Best production schedule will create professional jobs for local actors, musicians, dancers, designers, and technicians. They will utilize graduates from the UNC School of the Arts, Wake Forest University UNC-Greensboro, Elon University, Winston-Salem State University and other North Carolina and regional performing arts programs.
Broadway’s Best will partner with area destinations and events in joint marketing efforts for bus tours and other groups that may make use of area restaurants, hotels and recreational destinations.
Educational Programs, Fundraising and Corporate Partnerships
Broadway’s Best will offer a series of classes for children and adults in theatrical disciplines dance for theatre and other areas of interest in the performing arts.
They will partner with other Non-Profits providing fundraising opportunities and discounted rates for using the facility for training, meetings and other events. They also plan to work with Corporations and Businesses in providing our facility for meetings, training and other events and will partner with Corporate Citizens on individual and seasonal productions via advertising and marketing as well as on site and program placement of materials.
