A Fantastic Fourth: Independence Day Events in Davie County

Independence Day is just around the corner, and events for the whole family will be held across the entire county in celebration! Come out with family and friends to one, or many, of these exciting events!

Mocksville Kid’s Pedal Parade 

The Kid’s Pedal Parade is an opportunity for children to join in on the fun as they lead the annual Piedmont Antique Power Association Tractor Parade through Downtown Mocksville! No pre-registration is required and this event is free!

When: Saturday, July 3rd

  • Decorating for the children’s Pedal Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. 
  • Pedal Parade send-off from the library parking lot will take place at 10:30 a.m.

Where: Davie County Public Library, 371 North Main Street, Mocksville

Please remember that no motorized vehicles are allowed for children. Bikes, wagons, strollers, scooters, pedal tractors, skates, or anything in between is welcome in the Pedal Parade. Davie County Parks and Rec will provide numerous decorations to use on your ride before heading out, and participants are welcome to decorate their ride before arriving. If you would like to participate in the parade, please arrive in time to leave the parking lot by 10:30 a.m.

PAPA Tractor Parade 

When: Saturday, July 3rd

  • Tractors begin lining up at 8 a.m. and depart down Main Street at 10 a.m

Where: Masonic Picnic Grounds, 201 Poplar Street, Mocksville

Members of the community are invited to bring their tractors and join in on the parade or stop by to see these beauties up close. The annual tractor gathering and display has been postponed until September. Details can be found here.

Mocksville Independence Summer Concert and Fireworks

With live music followed by fireworks, the Independence Day Celebration at the Community Park is one spectacular way to spend your evening.

When: Saturday, July 3rd at 6:30 p.m.

Where: 151 Southwood Drive, Mocksville

Too Much Sylvia continues the summer concert series at the Independence Day Celebration with summertime beach music favorites you will not want to miss; Too Much Sylvia will be playing at the amphitheatre on the civic green from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own seating and welcome to bring their own food. Vendors will also be on-site, including Davie County High Band Boosters, Sharky’s Ice Shack, and Jacob & Mabrey’s Cotton Candy

Fireworks will light up the sky after the concert! The show is estimated to last 5 minutes, and guests will not want to miss the spectacle! Please note that unless you are sitting inside the park, it will be difficult to view the show. 

This is a free community event and no pre-registration is required. Please remember that alcohol is not permitted in the park at this time. Please refrain from bringing your four-legged friends. Mocksville Independence Day Fireworks Display

Davie County Recreation and Parks is hosting a fireworks-only display for the general public on Sunday, July 4th in 2021. 

When: Sunday, July 4th; Fireworks will begin at dusk, approximately 9:30 p.m.

Where: Rich Park – Lower Baseball Field, 299 Cemetery Street, Mocksville, NC

Come out and watch the spectacular light show in the evening! Guests are welcomed and encouraged to bring their own seating for this event. Please note that no vendors will be present, nor will there be activities, as this is only a display of fireworks. This event is free and no pre-registration is required. Please do not park in unauthorized areas for this event. No alcohol is permitted on park grounds.

Town of Cooleemee Independence Celebration

Join the Town of Cooleemee on Monday, July 5th, to celebrate Independence Day with food, activities, and the annual lawn mower parade!

When:  Monday Jul 5th from 10 a.m. – noon. Parade lineup begins at 9 a.m.

Where:  136 Marginal Street, Cooleemee, NC 27014.

The lawn mower parade will start at Cooleemee Elementary School and end at Cooleemee Town Hall. Anyone can participate by lining up a patriotically decorated lawn mower, float, car, bicycle or pet. Bring your lawn chair and view the parade along Marginal Street.

Drinks and hot dogs will be sold by Women VFW. Guests are invited to enjoy free watermelon and ice pops provided at this event. A Slip-n-Slide will be set up for children of all ages to enjoy, so bring your bathing suit!

“It’s nice to see an event that brings people together to come back after how 2020 was, and can’t wait to see all the smiling faces enjoying the parade, watermelon, and the slip and slide”, said Aaron Thies, Cooleemee town clerk.
