Town of Cooleemee Lawnmower Parade & Independence Celebration 

Pop down to the town of Cooleemee on Thursday, July 4th, for a day of community, food, and fun for all ages!

When: Thursday, July 4th, 10 a.m. until…
Where: Cooleemee Elementary School | 136 Marginal Street, Cooleemee, NC 27014

The celebration will kick off with the annual Lawnmower Parade! Come check out all the lawnmowers, golf carts, walkers, cars, motorcycles, and more. Everyone is welcome to watch or join the lineup with their sweet, star-spangled ride of choice. Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating and watch the show along Marginal Street. 

After the parade, head to the Zachary House. Hot dogs and drinks will be available for purchase, or you can dig into the watermelon and popsicles that will be provided free of charge! A Slip-n-Slide will be set up for the kids to cool down. 

To be in the parade, please arrive at Cooleemee Elementary School at 9 a.m. on Thursday, July 4th. No sign-ups or fees are required! For more information, contact Town Hall at 336.284.2141 or email scorriher@cooleemee.org.

Sipping with the Symphony: Independence Day with the Rayson Family!

Rayson Winery and Vineyards invites everyone of all ages to celebrate a family-friendly Fourth of July with dinner and a musical performance by the Greensboro Opera. The opera will be performing classic American songs like “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,” “America the Beautiful,” and “Yankee Doodle Dandy” from 5-8 p.m. 

When: Thursday, July 4th, 5-8 p.m.: Winery open from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.

Mocksville Independence Day Concert and Fireworks Show

Celebrate our nation’s independence with food trucks, beverages for purchase, two live bands, and the region’s biggest pyrotechnic fireworks show at the Independence Day Celebration at Davie County Community Park!

“We’re looking forward to an evening filled with great live musical entertainment, patriotism, community spirit, and a dazzling fireworks show to end the evening,” said Mercedes Barr, marketing and special events coordinator for Davie County Recreation and Parks. “It’s a privilege to carry on the Independence Celebration event that means so much to Davie County.”

When: Saturday, July 6th, 7-11 p.m.
Where: Davie County Community Park Amphitheater | 151 Southwood Dr, Mocksville, NC 27028

Guests are encouraged to bring their own seating. Bring your own food from home to enjoy or check out one of the vendors! Food will be available for purchase from Eric & K’s BBQ, Goose on the Loose, West Coast Wanderer, and DCS Band Boosters. Get a sweet treat from other available vendors like Jason’s Italian Ice Shop, 4 Fosters Slushies, Carnival Treats and Bakery, Lemon ‘N’ Dough, or Sno Biz of Mocksville. 

Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase for guests, courtesy of Davie County Chamber and Tourism! There will be two tents: one where 21+ guests may purchase a wristband for $5, and a second tent where beer selections will be available from RH Barringer. NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED. CREDIT CARD ONLY. Wristband proceeds will go to Davie County Recreation and Parks, and beer proceeds will go to Davie Chamber.

With performances by Band of Oz and Raquel & The Wildflowers

Raquel & The Wildflowers are set to bring you their hit country tunes at 7:00 pm. In 2018, singer Raquel won the ReverbNation contest for her songwriting skills. Six years later, she and her band are on their 4th tour in the USA. The band promises to light up the stage with hits like “I’m a Wildflower.”

Band of Oz will bring their iconic beach music to the stage at 8:30 p.m. Dance the night away to all of your favorite hits. Band of Oz is one of the most well-known beach music groups and entertains many people as they tour around the Southeast United States, including this stop in our beloved Mocksville, NC!

After the shows on stage, it’s time for a fireworks show in the sky! The best view of the fireworks will be INSIDE the park.

Davie County Community Park has put several rules into place for the safety of all guests attending the event:

  • All coolers and bags are subject to search. 
  • The following items are prohibited:
    • No outside alcohol. Alcohol will be available for purchase
    • No weapons
    • No explosives or flammables
    • No drugs or paraphernalia
    • No pets – service animals only 
    • No drones
    • No motorized bikes or scooters

Beat the Heat at RiverPark and the Splashpad

The sun is out, temperatures are rising, and everybody is looking for a way to cool down this summer. 

Check out RiverPark at Cooleemee Falls! You may know it as “The Bullhole.” Guests are welcome to have a riverside picnic and swim in the rapids. If entering the river, please wear an old pair of tennis shoes or other secure, closed-toe foot protection. The riverbed is made up of rocks that can be sharp, and shoes will protect against injury. 

When: 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday (Including July 4th!)
Where: 645 Erwin Temple Church Road, Woodleaf, NC

Holiday entrance fees are $10 per car, $5 per motorcycle, and $1 for walk-ins. Reduced rates are offered on weekdays and non-holidays. 

Another option is the Splashpad at Davie County Community Park! The Vortex Splashpad is the largest in North Carolina, coming in at 7,350 square feet! Featuring LED lights for nighttime play and aquatic wheelchairs, the Splashpad is a fun and accessible experience for everyone!

Pre-registration is encouraged, and you can sign up HERE. There is a $2 entry fee for all participants. The Splashpad operates on a recirculating water system that focuses on water conservation. Everyone is welcome!
