Davie County Arts Council Presents the 2021-22 Season of Applause

The Davie County Arts Council will soon be presenting its annual Season of Applause concert series! From iconic interpretations, classical piano, and vocal tributes, these are some of the finest musical showcasings to date, and you won’t want to miss out on these captivating performances.

The best way to enjoy them all is to purchase a 2020-2021 season pass for the concert series. Season pass holders are guaranteed the same seats for all six performances and save money off the individual ticket price. Season passes are $222.00 plus tax and can only be purchased at the box office or over the phone. This year’s lively lineup consists of:

The Platters and The Drifters

Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.

Both The Platters and The Drifters will be kicking off the Seasons of Applause concert series. The Platters originated in 1952, and the current members carry the name of the group that is considered to be the first African American musical group to reach international fame. The Platters are famous for many hits, and continue to evolve their music and broaden their audience scope.

Accompanying The Platters, The Classic Drifters are a tribute to The Drifters, and many of the members have performed with Bill Pinkney, a member of the original group. The Classic Drifters are a spectacular emulation of the original group and put on a show worth enjoying! Attendees can purchase tickets here and reserve their seats for an unforgettable night.

One More Night

Phil Collins is a legendary rock artist that has captivated people of all generations, and now, attendees of the One More Night performance can relive the magic, as this is a musical recreation of the renowned artist. The determination to reproduce the unique sound of Phil Collins is clearly demonstrated, as the lead singer parallels Collins with incredible accuracy. The Man in Black

November 6, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.

Johnny Cash is considered one of the most influential artists within the classic country and rockabilly genre, and his performances are known to be some of the most legendary, with deep vocals, catchy lyrics, and rhythmic excellence. To experience the essence of Cash, Shawn Barker’s Man in Black tribute is a true resurrection of the icon himself. Barker possesses a remarkable resemblance to Cash, both physically and musically. After being cast as Cash in the 2004 Broadway show “Million Dollar Quartet”, Barker has toured across the globe performing as The Man in Black. The Mac Frampton Trio

Mirror of Mathis

David Robbins will be performing a wonderful tribute to the great Johnny Mathis, award-winning jazz singer and songwriter. The ability of Robbins to recreate Mathis is unmatched by others, as his rich tone and incredible singing capture the essence of the original as if it is such.

An Enchanted Evening with Barbra

April 23, 2022 at 7:30 p.m.

To end the concert series with a truly striking night, Sharon Owens will be performing her imitation and tribute to the astonishing performer, Barbra Streisand. Owens is regarded as “one of the best impersonators in the world,” and was voted best show in Las Vegas in 2008, performing her own arrangement, “Barbra and Frank – The Concert That Never Was.”

Season Passes

Season passes are $222.00. Individual tickets are $40 for adults and $38 for seniors.

Please remember that season passes cannot be purchased online, only over the phone or at the box office. The Brock Performing Arts Center is located at 622 N. Main St. in Mocksville.
