I-40 Detour-Map-Davie-County

Beginning at 8 PM tonight, May 31st, 2013 all lanes of westbound I-40 at the Yadkin River bridge will be closed weekends to place a new concrete overlay on the bridge surface.

A new concrete overlay will be placed on the riding surface of the bridge. The bridge is at the Forsyth/Davie County line at mile marker 181 approximately 1 mile west of the Harper Rd. interchange (Exit 182).  A signed detour will run from the Harper Road exit to highway 158, then to highway 801, then back onto I-40 at Bermuda Run (see map).

Closure Schedule – Weather Permitting
The road closures will occur beginning on Fridays at 8:00 PM with the road reopening by 6:00 AM on Mondays. The road closures are anticipated for the following three weekends: May 31-June 3, June 7-10 and June 14-17.

Once westbound bridge work has been completed the eastbound lanes of the bridge will be closed for three consecutive weekends, weather permitting.  Keep an eye on this space for updates as work progresses.

These closures will be in effect pending good weather. There will be a signed off-site detour during the closure. Portable message boards or overhead message signs will be utilized during the weeks leading up to the closures advertising anticipated dates of closures. Motorists are advised to use other routes or avoid this area if possible during these times. Please use caution in this area and stay alert due to heavy congestion.
